ENTREVISTA con Chen Balbus de Orphaned Land para El Cuartel del Metal

El Cuartel del Metal hablo recientemente con Chen Balbus guitarrista líder de la agrupación Israelí de Folk Metal ORPHANED LAND. 

Chen Balbus Nos contó un poco de la salida de Yossi Sassi de Orphaned Land, que transmiten con su música, cual es el escalón final al que la banda quiere llegar y como se sienten al compartir escenario con bandas de gran peso y que de cierto modo tienen una ideología distinta en su música. 

Entrevista con Chen Balbus: 

Yossi dejo Orphaned Land ¿Qué desafíos vinieron a su mente en ese momento como banda? ¿Cómo se sintió el primer momento de juego sin Yossi después del anuncio oficial? 

Chen Balbus: De un modo fue algo triste ya que siempre fue parte de Orphaned Land en mi imagen cuando era pequeño., pero creo que fue para mejor, puesto que su corazón ya no estaba con Orphaned Land y sentía la necesidad de hacer su propio proyecto en solitario.

El publico metalero se han convertido hoy en día exigente en el momento de escuchar buen metal, y Orphaned Land tiene un extenso grupo de fans en todo el mundo. ¿Cuál es el secreto de Orphaned Land para llegar a ese público que lo escucha por primera vez y ahora tiene gran amor a la banda?

Chen Balbus: Orphaned Land hablan sobre un mensaje de paz a través de la música. Desde las letras hasta la manera en que combinamos el Heavy Metal con influencias de medio oriente. Sobre todo en Orphaned Land tratamos de mostrar que todos somos hombres sencillos. No estamos por encima de nadie – Debemos respetar a cada persona sin importar de donde es, cuál es su cultura o sus antecedentes. 

¿cómo llegaron a compartir el escenario con bandas que de alguna manera tienen un fondo profesional sobre sus hombros totalmente diferente a su concepto o incluso radical? 

Chen Balbus: No somos la única banda que tiene un mensaje que compartir, así que es natural encontrarnos con bandas con las que nunca pensamos que nos llegaríamos a encontrar. En cada ocasión nos fue muy bien y la mayoría han sido muy amigables.

¿Tiene Orphaned Land una meta específica, como Metallica, que quería tocar en todos los continentes en el mundo? Si es así, ¿cuál es el tuyo? 

Chen Balbus: El objetivo de Orphaned Land es unir a las personas con el poder de la música. Mostrar que hay otra forma más allá de odiar solo porque somos diferentes.

Chen, ¿Cómo te sientes al tomar la posición de liderazgo como interprete de la guitarra después de que Yossi abandonara su puesto? 

Chen Balbus: En realidad nunca hubo un papel de líder en Orphaned Land, pero ahora y en el período en que Matti era parte de la banda, ambos guitarristas eran iguales. Orphaned Land es una banda y no hay un “YO” – somos un grupo en el cada uno aporta lo mejor a la banda, creando esta música maravillosa para el mundo.

• Yossi parts ways with Orphaned Land What challenges came out to your mind in that moment as a band? How did you feel the first moment playing without Yossi after the official announcement?

Chen: In a way it was sad since he was always a part of Orphaned Land in My image as a little boy, but I believe it was for the best since his heart Was no longer with Orphaned Land and he felt the need to make his own Music  solo. But on the other hand it's very good for us now to goon full force And bring Orphaned Land to higher levels when every one is motivated and devoted Only for Orphaned Land.

• Metallers have become demanding nowadays at the moment of listening to good metal, and Orphaned Land has an extensive group of fans allover the world. What´s  OL´s secret to reach that audience listening to you for the first time and now love the band?

Chen: Orphaned Land are speaking a message of peace through our music. From the lyrics to how we combine heavy metal with middle-eastern Influences. Above all Orphaned Land try to show that we are all simple men And we're nota bove anyone – weshould respect each person no matter where He's from, his culture or background. 

• Have you come to wonder how did you get to share onstage with bands that some how have a profesional background don theirs houlders totally different to your concept or even radical?

Chen: We're not the only band out there that has an message to share So it's natural tome et with bands that wen ever though twewillever Meet. In every case it wentreally well and most are very friendly.

• Does Orphaned Land have a specific goal like Metallica, who wanted to play in all continents in the world? If so, which one is yours? 

Chen: Orphaned Lands goalisto unite people with the power of music. To show that there is another way other than hating each other Just because we are different.

• Chen,  How do you feel taking the leading position as guitar player after Yossi? 

Chen: Actually there was never a 'lead' role in Orphaned Land, Both now and when the days Matti was a part of the band Both guitar players are equal. Orphaned Land is a band and there's no 'I' – we are a group Thateachone of uscontributes his best for the band and creating This wonderful music for the world.
